The Story of Two Dafs and a Triumph.
Technical
The Daf range are deceptively simple mechanically, even taking into account the mysterious Variomatic transmission. Indeed, the Owners' Manual for the Daf 33 lists the following as tasks that can be carried out by the owner:
Replacement of all bulbs
Replacement fuses
Replacement of spark plugs
Wheel change
Replacement of generator belt
Headlamp alignment
Cleaning and setting contact points
Adjusting ignition timing
Replacement and adjustment of Variomatic belts
At least some models had the basic tuning data posted on a sticker on the n/s/f inner wheel wheelarch. An examples from a 1972 Daf 33 (with emissions control) and 1970 / 71 55 Coupe are shown below.
If a given car has the sticker (in readable condition) then the figures on it should be used as they will relate to that exact model. In its absence, the links in the Technical menu give technical data for the various models. This may come from a variety of sources but, where possible, will be confirmed against original manufacturer's data.
