Overall, the bodywork is fairly sound but tatty. There's been a previous respray (or possibly two)in a couple of different shades. In terms of rot, the problem areas are some of the typical ones for these cars:
The doors are sound, with a few paint chips and bubbles that need sorting out. And the car needs new paint. Most of this work is going to be done with filler (using fibreglass backing where needed) because of the limited facilities we have at the moment for welding repair panels. But filler doesn't have to be a bad thing as long as you don't expect it to be a "forever" repair. Sooner or later, most of this work will need to be re-done using proper metal but, to get the car back on road and looking respectable, it'll do for now. Filler does have one other advantage over welding when working in less than ideal conditions: once you've removed rot and treated the metal, nothing really gets it going again better than a nice, hot, welding flame! ![]() ![]() ![]() |
